 - exploring mysterious aspects of humans.

Helping to become a person capable of understanding people from deep, multiple perspectives

Today's society is becoming increasingly complicated, resulting in many problems such those in the domains of education, welfare for elderly people and environment. Under these situations, our society pressingly requires people who can understand other people in a deep and multifaceted way and contribute to the solution of those problems.

The Faculty of Human Sciences, which aims to develop a person with the ability to educate and support other people as well as to make proposals for a better society, provides a learning environment to study on humans in a comprehensive and interdisciplinary manner. It also aims to help students to grow as a practical individual having the ability to exercise independent judgment and take action, by providing classes or seminars that utilize experiments, practice teaching and fieldwork. This ability is critical when trying to address the challenges of today's society.

Learning about three elements of mind, body and society in a systematic and comprehensive way

We, human beings, have three aspects: mind, body and society. If any one of them is not taken into account, we cannot understand humans comprehensively. The Faculty of Human Sciences provides you with opportunities to systematically learn about these three elements beginning from the basics to more specialized studies in four years.

In the Faculty, students gain broad knowledge by learning disciplines such as psychology, health science and sociology, helping them to develop the ability to think in a multifaceted way and take action promptly and effectively. To allow students to study the three aspects of human mind, body and society in a more focused manner, the Faculty of Human Sciences provides three courses: Psychology and Human Development, Sports and Health, and Human Society. One of the courses should be taken in the fall of the first year after learning the basics of the aspects.

Psychology and Human Development

The Psychology and Human Development Course focuses on the development and characteristics of human mind based on the perspectives of mentality, development and education. Students first know themselves by exploring their own existence from the perspectives of both mind and body, and then use this approach to improve their ability to understand, communicate and interact with other people. In addition to the basic subjects, this course provides experiment and practice activities. It also covers the applied areas such as the mentality of victims of crime and disaster, the state of mind of elderly and physically handicapped people, and health psychology.

Sports and Health Course

In the Sports and Health Course, where Health Science is a required subject in the first year, students study how to improve the ability to manage health of their own. This course also aims to improve physical skills and to provide practical education that can be applied to everyday experiences. On the other hand, it offers specialized knowledge required to improve business management skills that meet today's business needs, together with fieldwork activities, in order for students to effectively obtain a broad spectrum of insight and knowledge.

Human Society Course

The Human Society Course highlights the aspects of humans as social existence by focusing on the fact that our society is formed by humans who hold mind and body. This course teaches theories concerning the relationship and interaction between humans and society, the modern society that continues to diversify, and the local and international society. It also provides students with empirical learning experiences through investigative practice activities, and aims to help students to develop as a person with the ability to independently discover problems, plan and carry out whatever is necessary, as well as make proposals for a better society.
